Crew, Pacers, Drop Bags & Cutoffs

One of the features that sets Crown Stub apart is just how crew-friendly it is. With more than 25 crew access locations throughout the course, your support team is never far away. The aid station chart below identifies both official aid stations and crew access points, making it easy to plan your race-day strategy.

Crew Access

Crew access points are designated locations where your crew can meet you, provide nutrition, refill hydration, swap gear, assist with clothing changes, or simply cheer you on as you continue your journey. Driving directions to each crew access point will be updated once our permits are finalized.

One important rule: Runners may not enter or sit inside a vehicle at any time during the race, whether the vehicle is moving or parked. Violation of this rule may result in disqualification.

Aid Stations

Official aid stations are fully stocked with food, hydration, medical support, and volunteers ready to help keep you moving toward the finish line. These locations are identified on the aid station chart below.

Drop Bags

Each runner may check two drop bags, which will be available to you a total of six times throughout the race.

Drop bag locations include:

  • Stewarts Gate – Miles 5.171.7, 94 & 100.7

  • Vernonia Aid Station – Miles 16.0 & 60.8

The Stewarts Gate drop bag locations are excellent places to pack an extra pair of shoes. Many runners choose to switch between trail shoes and road or gravel shoes as the terrain changes throughout the course.

Remember, your crew can also bring you additional gear, nutrition, and supplies at any designated crew access point, so you're not limited to the contents of your drop bags.

Pacers

Pacers may join their runner beginning at Pisgah Aid Station (Mile 40.2).

Pacers are welcome to assist with navigation, pacing strategy, motivation, and encouragement. However, pacers may not carry gear, nutrition, or equipment on behalf of the runner.

Cutoffs

Crown Stub features a unique 12:00 PM Saturday start, giving runners a total of 32 hours to complete the course.
