Since 2008, Rich Ascherl has been putting on racing events in Oregon state parks - culminating in what we here at Bivouac Racing now call the PNW State Park Racing Series. In 2018, knowing he was moving on to different adventures, and not wanting the series to end, Rich tapped Rod Schoene to take up the mantle.
Schoene, who has been running trails for the last two decades, and active in the PNW trail running community for at least half of that stretch, purposed the undertaking to his family. The result - Bivouac Racing.
Bivouac Racing is the umbrella under which we organize our family hijinks.
Our mission is to create events that both feed our need to commune with nature in physically demanding ways, as well as our need to spend solid time with our friends and family.
Below are a few things you should know about our events:
NO CUP FOR YOU!
We are a cupless race organization. While we will always have water and some type of electrolyte replacement drink available to you, you are expected to BYOV (Bring Your Own Vessel) to the party. This is standard for most trail events, but we figured we better mention it just in case…
We get it. Things happen. Plantar fascitis flares up. Limbs done did get broken. You COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY NEGLECTED TRAINING. Whatever it is, we got you. Just let us know a week before the event, and you can push your entry to any of our events within the next 12-months.
