Our Story
Bivouac Racing was founded in 2018 with a simple idea: trail races should be about more than crossing a finish line. The word bivouac represents gathering together after an adventure—a place where stories are shared, friendships are built, and memories are made. That spirit is at the heart of everything we do.As a Pacific Northwest, family-owned race organization, Bivouac Racing is led by husband-and-wife team Rod and Karissa Schoene, alongside their son Brock, with the support of an incredible team of staff, volunteers, and community members who help bring every event to life. Together, we're passionate about creating unforgettable trail running experiences that showcase the incredible places we call home.Whether you're chasing your first finish line or your next big adventure, we hope you'll feel like part of the Bivouac family from the moment you arrive.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create events that inspire adventure, build resilience, and strengthen community. We believe the best memories are made outside—sharing miles, meals, campfires, and finish lines with friends, family, and fellow adventurers.
Our Events
Every Bivouac Racing event is designed to celebrate the trails, the people who run them, and the community that makes it all possible.
Bring Your Own Vessel
We're a cupless race organization. Water and electrolyte drinks will always be available at our aid stations, but you'll need to bring your own reusable cup, bottle, or hydration pack. It's a small step that helps us reduce waste and protect the places we love to run.
Our Deferral Policy
Life happens. Injuries, family commitments, unexpected schedule changes—or maybe training just didn't go as planned. If you need to withdraw from an event, simply let us know at least one month before race day, and we'll gladly transfer your entry to any Bivouac Racing event within the following 12 months.
